How many C versus C++ programmers are there in the U.S. and in the world?

none really.

People, who call themselves "C programmers" or "C++ programmers" are not really programmers at all.

It's like a "20 oz hammer carpenter" or a "2000 Ford Taurus driver".

Is the analogy clear?

Carpenters, drivers and programmers alike know how to use their tools. Language is programmer's tool. The details of particular language's syntax have about as much significance to a programmer as the weight of a particular hammer to a carpenter.

P.S. C and C++ are not "identical", contrary to common misconception. They are completely different languages, but that's beyond the point - they are languages nevertheless. The same arguments would apply to any pair - say, COBOL and Java...

How many C versus C++ programmers are there in the U.S. and in the world?
I guess that your question is meant more to know the relative proportion of c programmer vs c++ programmer and not the absolute numbers for both.

Even that is hard to tell. Many people will use both, and as most c code is also valid c++, you hardly can place one programmer in one category or the other.

The objective way to tell, is which compiler is used. A C compiler or a C++ compiler. In that regard, most compilers use to compile c are really c++ compilers, making their output c++ code.

So in my experience the only groups using pure C code %26amp; compiler are low-level drivers and/or imbedded applications programmers.

That would be a very few pourcentage, say 2%
Reply:Imposible to tell. Are you retarded to ask such ask this???
Reply:Hang on a second, I'll go count them for you...

This is a pretty stupid question!

You also fail to appreciate that the two groups are almost the same - most C++ programmers also code C and vice versa. Why wouldn't they? - The two languages are practically identical.

Rawlyn.
Reply:There are only 7 C++ programmers in the world, and one day they will take over our governments.
