Game Programmer?

What are some of the main things a game programmer does?


What is Computer Science?


The program C/C++?


What colleges offer game programming classes type things like computer science and others?

Game Programmer?
DeVry offers a lot of the gaming stuff. But it is only in certain areas. And i think they may have it online now too!





Game programming is just like other programming, it just has a different purpose. Instead of business applications you are just going to be dealing a lot more with graphics and things in that industry.





Computer Science is just the name of the Bachelors degree, you can major/concentrate in many different aspects of the technology field with the degree. Like Database Administration, Web Development, actually Application Programming, System Security, System Admin, Networking, etc...





C and C++ are programming languages. But the newest one is C#. All are fairly similar. With programming, once you learn the concepts the languages come pretty easily with a little study!

Reply:You can either major in a science program, such as Computer science, and take extra classes in graphics.





Or you can major in an art program for design, and take extra classes in programming.





You will most likely make more money with a science degree, but ultimately you have to decide if you are more of an artistic person, or your more into math and science. This, along with your work experience, will determine where you will be placed on a team if you make it into game design. (It takes a long time to break in I hear).

Reply:Programming is not just knowing C/C++ or other language. Programming is making the computer work for us and accomplish the end you have in mind. If you want to build games, you'll need more then C/C++. You'll need passion, creativity and, because games, besides logic and artificial intelligence, are also graphics, sounds.... multimedia, you too should have an artistic vein. Luckily, games are made by several people, each one with some kind of knowledge. But, their all programmer. They're all working for the construction of the 'complete algorithm'. they're all working to same end
