I want to program games as well as programs for general helpful use. I already know Java so I was wondering where to go next... I was thinking C++ but I wanted to know what I should learn if I want to become a computer programmer.
What language is the most useful for a computer programmer?
You're right about learning C++, because although there are bigger and better languages to learn, C++ is still WIDELY utilized in the business world, and until those businesses are ready to reinvest millions of dollars into new (and mostly untested) software, they're going to continue to employ C++ developers, and support staff.
Reply:If you have already learned Java, then you should almost be able to program in C++ already. Therefore, I would recommended trying to learn a language that's drastically different. Doing so will help you to learn more about programming and design.
Learning C++ will make you a more knowledgeable programmer, but learning something drastically different from Java will make you a BETTER programmer.
So, I would recommend any of the following:
Python, Perl, Scheme
If you're only concerned with the utility of the language and not with becoming a more advanced programmer, then I would recommend pure ANSI C since you mentioned an interest in game programming. Although a scripting language like Python or Perl might also be useful in the gaming world.
Reply:If you want to get into web development in future then ActionScript and PHP are the ones you need.
C ++ is good but is easyer to make money by web development PHP, Flash , ActionScript, etc.
I met many C ++ programmers that didnt knew how to sell their software.
Reply:Try C language ...
Reply:My Dear,
Don't get serious to be frank I think the first %26amp; best suitable language for a computer programmer will be the "English Language".
soryy to joke with u
as per the suggestions you already got as answers for your question it is best for you to go for C language first and then for its higher versions like C++, C# etc.,
ok bye
Thanks %26amp; Regards,
