Yes can if you are serious and have the will.

ASP.NET and C# is actually a good choice because C# can be used not only to code web applications but also class libraries and windows applications in addition to many other choices of applications

.

Start by exploring HTML, and CSS. A little Javascript is also required. You don't have to go indepth there since you're only a beginner.

You have to know how web applications work. It is very essential to know what code executes on the web server, what code executes on the client browser and the interaction between the two.

You can start learning the syntax of C# as you learn ASP.NET. You do not need to read a dedicated book on C#, but in case you're interested in one since you have no previous experience, this is an excellent one.

Visual C# 2005 Step by Step - Microsoft Press

You can start exploring ASP.NET by hanging around http://www.asp.net

Thats the official ASP.NET site, however you will need to read few books. For beginners I suggest: Wrox - Beginning ASP.NET 2.0

I have no experience whatsoever regarding Ruby on Rail. I recommend that you focus on one platform for now since you're a beginner.

I can send you the ebooks by email in case you're interested.

Hope this helps.
Reply:Well, C# isn't web programming. Also, I would recommend learning PHP instead of ASP.Net because it is a lot more popular, powerful, and of course it's free and open source.
Reply:Who said you can become a programmer by studying, if you code for 7 hours a day, you can become a good programmer in 6 months

We can help you as well.

Reply:Of course you can! I am telling you this because I am once like you. I have started reading 1 chapter a day and practice that on hands-on programming.

Also, better download on print an updated web programming tutorial.

6 months are more than enough. then take some certifications to support your credibility as an entry level programmer :)
