Web designer/programmer program?
If you want to become a professional web developer heres the bottomline.

You HAVE to know your way around notepad and straight-forward code.

CSS, HTML, and Javascript are musts. More if you wish for real dynamics in a website.

This class will probably require you to learn SOME knowledge of the code itself, but majority will probably be taught through dreamweaver and the other various programs. Yes this class seems to be as good as it gets, but again a warning.. know how to do it all by typing it out also.

What-you-see-is-what-you-get Programs like dreamweaver just don't cut it.
Reply:That's a really solid set of technologies to learn, far better than Windows-centric solutions which are all they teach at my school. Open source is great, because it means you always know your clients can afford to install whatever they need to get the job done.

In terms of authoring software: Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash are all solid, reliable programs. What's missing from there, you can get for free and teach yourself. I use POV-Ray, the Persistence of Vision Raytracer, to create graphics from scratch. POV-Ray makes amazing images *from programming code*, not a GUI, so it will literally show you anything you can describe. Check it out!
