Getting a C in your major course...?

I want to get into the video game field as possibly a game programmer. I took C++ last semester and got a C in the class (at my university, you need a C or higher to pass your major course). I was wondering, am I screwing up my future career as a game programmer by getting that C? I haven't taken any other computer programming classes yet, but am nervous to get anything lower than a B.

Getting a C in your major course...?
A 'C' isn't the end of the world! They happen to everyone. Just study hard, do your best, and most importantly....don't give up! One C will not ruin your life or future career. Just try to keep them to a minimum.
Reply:you r not challenged enough and u need to ask the teacher if u can get help or get a tutor or maybe "STUDY!*" HARD... cause there will me strugals in ur life.
Reply:I am totally sympathetic to your question. I am still just taking my core curriculum. Like someone said earlier. I don't think that the C is going to ruin your chances. But if you think you can do better, by all means take it again. However, if it is a prerequisite for another course...I would take the other course being mindful to work your hardest. If you make an A or B+ in that course. I wouldn't worry too much about it. However, if you make a C or possible worse, you might need to think hard about starting over in that series of classes b/c there is obviously something that is hanging you up. Perhaps change instructors.

Another thing that is important to mention... even though the higher of two grades is what your GPA will be based and what will be on your record, the fact that you attempted that class before will still be on there. I don't think that it would look too good of it showed that you attempted several courses and had to take them over. The same applies to any classes that you withdraw from.

But honestly I think a C would be more damaging in an upperlevel course rather than an entry level course.
Reply:most colleges will allow you to take the class again and take the higher of the two grades for your gpa. C's happen to everybody, they just need to be kept to a minimum. One C isn't going to ruin your future. As i said though you can always retake it if you think you can do better.
